    CHALLENGES

    Japfa is one of Asia’s leading animal protein producers, employing 38,000 people and supplying up to 25% of staple proteins in several markets. With its fully integrated value chain, the company faces increasing operational complexity. 

    Key challenges included: 

    • Biosecurity and animal health risks: Delays in detecting anomalies could impact food safety, animal welfare, and productivity. 
    • Shortage of skilled technicians: Manual processes and dispersed sites limited the ability to scale expertise across operations. 
    • Fragmented reporting: Consolidating farm-level data into meaningful corporate-level insights took weeks of manual effort, slowing down decision-making. 
    • Sustainability commitments: As one of the first agribusinesses in Asia to issue a sustainability-linked bond, Japfa needed digital solutions to optimize resources, enhance traceability, and support ESG goals. 
    SOLUTION

    Working with SBI and Snowflake, Japfa deployed JINI AI Farm Advisor, an AI-powered farm management solution built on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud: 

    • Simplified data capture: Farmers submit photos and daily information via Zalo, a widely used messaging app in Asia. 
    • Real-time ingestion and storage: Images and data flow into Amazon S3 and are ingested into Snowflake through Snowpipe for immediate availability. 
    • AI-powered multimodal analysis: Photos are automatically classified (visitors, mortality, anomalies), data is extracted, and discrepancies with farmer reports are flagged. 
    • Smart alerting and feedback loop: Snowflake Cortex AI enriches the system with OCR and short, actionable messages, enabling technicians to respond instantly. 
    • Consolidated enterprise view: The platform integrates farm-level insights into corporate dashboards, allowing management to track performance across all business units in near real time. 
    • Future-ready design: Built for scalability, the solution is ready to integrate new use cases such as video-based quality control, defect detection, and process optimization.
