We are looking for a Senior Modern Data Platform Architect who combines architecture excellence, hands-on development, and project leadership.
You will be accountable for designing, building, and delivering modern cloud data platforms, while also leading projects, coordinating teams, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery.
This role is ideal for an Architect who enjoys staying close to the code, engaging with clients, and driving projects from concept to production.
Architecture & Solution Delivery
- Architect and implement modern cloud data platforms using Snowflake, Databricks, and/or Microsoft Fabric on Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Define end-to-end architectures covering data ingestion, transformation, storage, analytics, and AI enablement
- Establish best practices for security, governance, performance optimization, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Design integrations with data lakes, APIs, AI/ML services, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)
Hands-On Development
- Act as a hands-on technical contributor, especially during critical phases of delivery
- Develop and review SQL, Python, ELT/ETL pipelines, orchestration workflows, and data models
- Implement automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Git, etc.)
- Support complex troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production readiness
Project Management & Delivery Leadership
- Lead end-to-end project delivery: planning, execution, risk management, and go-live
- Act as Technical Project Lead, coordinating architects, engineers, analysts, and external stakeholders
- Contribute to or own project planning, effort estimation, milestones, and delivery governance
- Ensure alignment between business objectives, technical architecture, timeline, and budget
- Manage delivery risks, dependencies, and quality standards
Client Advisory & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders (IT, Data, Business leaders)
- Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions
- Clearly communicate architectural choices, trade-offs, and constraints (performance, cost, security)
- Produce clear and structured architecture documentation and delivery artifacts
Pre-Sales & Innovation
- Support pre-sales and solutioning activities: architecture design, estimation, PoCs, and technology assessments
- Stay up to date with platform innovations:
- Snowflake (Snowpark, Native Apps, Cortex)
- Databricks & Lakehouse
- Microsoft Fabric & OneLake
- Contribute to SBI’s Data Platform architecture standards, accelerators, and thought leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
Core Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake, including performance tuning, security, data sharing, and automation
- Proven experience designing and delivering cloud data platforms on Azure, AWS, or GCP
- Excellent command of SQL and data modeling (3NF, star/snowflake schemas)
- Solid experience with ETL/ELT patterns and orchestration
- Proficiency in Python or similar languages for data transformation and automation
- Deep understanding of modern data architecture principles (lakehouse, event-driven, API-based integration)
- Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps for data (Git, Terraform, Jenkins, etc.)
- Prior experience leading or coordinating delivery teams and projects
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with Snowpark (Python), Streamlit in Snowflake, or Snowflake Native Apps
- Exposure to AI/ML or GenAI integration within data platforms
- Experience with modern data stack tools (Fivetran, Databricks, Dataiku, dbt, Power BI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of data mesh or data fabric architectures
- Understanding of FinOps and cost optimization strategies for cloud data platforms
- Experience leading enterprise-scale data modernization programs
- Certifications: Snowflake SnowPro, AWS / Azure / GCP certifications
